Equipment Care & Maintenance Please be sure to take good care of the League equipment. This equipment has to last us several years in order to keep our fees down. While we start registrations at $50 in May and go up to $70 in July, we are one of the most affordable leagues around the state. Most leagues charge a minimum of $70 and several are over $100 without discounts for early registration. The helmets we supply Retail for $77 and the oldest helmets we will use were purchased last year. The shoulder pads retail around $48 (purchased last year) and this year’s integrated pants retail for $34. By the time we supply balls, mouth pieces, blocking pads, water bottles, replacement parts and other related equipment to the teams our equipment costs are nearly $200 per person. That doesn’t include any other related fees necessary to run the league.
Helmets: The helmet is the most important piece of equipment we have. Parents/players should take great care of their helmets by keeping clean, inspecting regularly, placing them on a surface rather than dropping/throwing them and avoiding sitting on them or using them for any other unintended use. Spray them down regularly with any product equal to Clorox Anywhere and rinse well. Also, Remove all stickers at the end of the year. There should be no unapproved stickers used on the helmets.
Shoulder Pads: These pads need to be cleaned regularly. They can be sprayed down with Clorox Anywhere (or equal) and rinsed with water just like the helmets.
Pants: DO NOT USE BLEACH on the integrated pants. That INCLUDES the white Junior League pants. The best method of cleaning the integrated that are heavily soiled is to spray under pressure. Take to a local do it yourself car wash and spray them down without getting too close to the fabric. If they aren’t heavily soiled, just throw them in the washer like you would other garments.
Uniform Cleaning and Drying Instructions: Uniforms are for GAMES ONLY. Do not wear Jerseys in Practice! Uniforms should washed immediately after each use if at all possible. Turn garment inside out to help preserve ink printing and twill. Use only cold water for all settings of the washing machine and Do not wash with other items such as towels. DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH! DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER! DO NOT DRY CLEAN ATHLETIC UNIFORMS! Heavily soiled garments should be pre-treated. Any of the pre-treating brands found at your grocery store will do just fine as long as it does not contain bleach. For blood stains soak in cold water before washing. An oxygen based launtry booster can also be used to wash garments. If possible, use a high water level to minimize mechanical action on the uniforms and do not overload washer. Remove uniforms immediately after washing and hang dry all garments. If you must use a dryer, use a damp dry or air dry setting. The lower the setting on the dryer, the better it is for the garment. A high heat setting can cause shrinkage, cracking in the ink printing, wrinkles in the twill, etc. Overloading the dryer can cause uniforms with ink to stick together. Remove garments from the dryer immediately when th edrier has finished. DO NOT IRON!
Returns: Please be sure to get the equipment turned in as soon as your child’s season is over. We will turn in equipment at the field as well as at the same location we pass it out. We are all volunteers with careers and families and don’t have the time to chase equipment all over the Tri-County area so please make it a priority to get the equipment in on time and in good condition so that we can keep things affordable for future TCSA athletes.
